About

A small tool that turns heavy GIFs into light APNGs.

apngmorph is a browser-based converter for animated images. You drop in one or more animated GIFs, choose a target size, and the tool decodes every frame, resamples it, and assembles the result as an Animated PNG — a format that supports full 24-bit colour and alpha transparency, so gradients stay smooth and soft edges stop fringing. Each output frame is stored as a subframe with only the pixels that actually changed, and untouched areas are marked as transparent, which keeps file sizes close to the original GIF while looking noticeably cleaner.

Everything happens inside your own browser tab. GIFs are never uploaded, queued on a server, or kept in a bucket somewhere — decoding, resizing, palette work and APNG assembly all run as local JavaScript. That means the tool works offline once loaded, handles private material safely, and costs nothing to try.

It is built for people who ship animated graphics as part of their work: designers exporting interface demos, developers optimising assets for a web app, marketers shrinking email and landing page media, and anyone who has watched a GIF look fuzzy after being compressed one more time. If you convert a batch regularly, the paid plans unlock heavier compression backends and palette controls; the converter itself stays free.

Most people arrive here for one job: LINE stickers. Sticker sets are submitted as animated GIFs with strict size and dimension limits, and the GIF encoder’s 256-colour palette often leaves soft edges, gradients and light outlines looking grainy against LINE’s chat background. Converting each sticker to APNG first keeps the transparency clean and the colours accurate, then resizing the whole set to the exact dimensions the submission form asks for means the files pass the size check without a second round of compression. Batch conversion is built for exactly that workflow — drop a full sticker set, set one target size, and export every file at once.

apngmorph is built by a small independent team focused on on-device media tooling. There is no tracking-heavy dashboard and no account required to convert a file — only an optional sign-in if you want your plan to follow you between devices.
